MY CAR WAS IMPOUNDED IN DENVER!

ok..MAYBE MY CAR WAS RELOCATED IN DENVER!

If your car was towed in Denver, you should first stop and figure out where it was towed from.  It is important to know the difference between impound and relocation of your vehicle.  Sometimes, your vehicle is taken to another place and placed in a legal parking spot.  It is important to note that despite your initial instincts, the towing of your car does not mean that it was impounded.

Denver Police Non-Emergency line:

(720) 913-2000

Then dial zero to locate a vehicle that was towed in Denver!

TIP: WHEN YOUR VEHICLE IS RELOCATED IN DENVER, THERE CAN BE A $100 FEE

WHAT IS THE BOOT?  WHEN CAN A CAR BE BOOTED IN DENVER?

In Denver your car can have a Boot placed on it if you have three or more citations or tickets.  A boot is a device that attaches to your car wheel and prevents you from moving the car.  If you have three or more tickets/citations in Denver, a seizure warning notice may be placed on the car. If your car is Booted, you must resolve the issue immediately.  If the issue is not resolved within three days, your car will be considered abandoned.  Your car can then be towed.  Payment of the fees due and owing is the most appropriate response to a Boot if you wish to prevent your car from being towed to the impound lot.

As a result, you will have to pay not only the ticket, but also ALL OUTSTANDING and unpaid parking tickets for a period of 90 days and any fees due to the wrecker company once your car is towed.

One sticker was placed on the towed vehicle and it states the citation number, the reason for the car being towed and how to appeal the citation. The second sticker is placed if the car is towed. In that case, a sticker is placed on the meter adjacent to where the vehicle was parked before it was towed. Look around the area where the vehicle was towed. The sticker left by the wrecker company after towing will often be attached to a nearby object.

CARS TOWED DURING RAVENS GAMES

My car was towed after a Raven’s Game.  Where is it?

If your car was towed during a Raven’s game, there may be special towing procedures being followed by the Baltimore City Department of Transportation.  During the football season, the Department of Transportation is being more aggressive in removing illegally parked cars.  More likely than not, instead of getting a ticket, your car will go to the Fallsway Lot.  Call the Fallsway Lot for the exact amount that you will owe.

The Fallsway Facility will  be open for two hours after the end of each football game to allow motorists to claim vehicles that have been towed.  They may not take cash.  You may want to call.

Vehicle Booting in Washington DC

District law states that a vehicle is boot-eligible if it has two or more unsatisfied parking and/or photo enforcement tickets that are 60 days old.  A boot is a device attached to the car’s wheel in order to immobilize it. The boot can only be safely removed by DPW. A booted vehicle is subject to towing immediately, if the outstanding tickets and boot fee remain unpaid. Boots are normally removed less than two hours after fines have been paid.

DPW will tow booted vehicles from the street to either 1725 15th Street, NE (open weekdays from 10 am to 7 pm) or the Blue Plains Impoundment and Storage Facility at 5001 Shepherd Parkway, SW (open weekdays between 8 am and 4:30 pm). Customers may call (202) 541-6083 to learn the impoundment lot where their vehicle was towed.

To release the booted or towed vehicle, you must pay the boot or tow fee and all outstanding parking tickets on the vehicle tag.

IN ORDER TO PAY OUTSTANDING PARKING FEES IN DC:

  • You can pay parking tickets and fees in person at the DMV Adjudication Service Center. Tickets and boot fees may also be paid online.
  • The DC DPW has One Stop Customer Service Centers at the Blue Plains Impoundment Lot #4 (located at 5001 Shepherd Parkway, SW) and 15th Street Impoundment Lot # 5 (located at 1725 15th Street, NE) to allow you to pay ticket and tow fees online without visiting DMV’s Adjudication Services. Call 311 or (202) 737-4404 to determine which impoundment lot your vehicle is located.
  • Payments may be made with cash, money order, or credit card. The DC Government accepts Visa, MasterCard, and Discover credit cards. DC Government does not accept American Express credit cards.
  • VERY IMPORTANT: Checks cannot be accepted for release of booted vehicles or towed vehicles with multiple outstanding tickets.
  • According to the DC websites, until you pay the tow and ticket fees, you may remove only these items from your vehicle: cash, checkbook, driver license, perishable items, medicine, and tools necessary for livelihood.
